BRAND NEW ONKYO ICON SERIES C-30 AUDIOPHILE GRADE AFFORDABLE CD PLAYER.  $399.  Just introduced to go with their top rated Icon preamp and Power amp and new Integrated amp, which have received rave audio perfectionist reviews. Yet, these Icon components are very affordable. For example, VLSC which stands for Velocity Linear Shaping Circuit. This is a proprietary Onkyo technology that removes pulse noise from the signal path.
Additionally, it has a high precision clock that insures timing accuracy. In very high end ($10,000, $20,000) CD players, they often have a separate chassis for the clock. This unit has vibration resistant aluminum front panel. This reduces resonance which can effect sound quality.
The front panel has a sand plasted finish for an high end look. On the rear panel are RCA analog outputs, plus optical and coax to send the digital signal to high end external DAC (Digital Audio Converter). This plays CDs, but not SACD.
This all adds up to a really good, audiophile grade CD player for a very reasonable price. Onkyo is making a big comeback.
