Sony introduced a new professional video monitor that has taken over the movie industry for color grading, editing and finalizing movies for release in theaters. It offers unprecedented dynamic range of 4000 nits and extreme color accuacy.
The Sony BRAVIA 9, home use TV offers an unprescented advance in picture perfection with a dynamic range, from black to ultra white almost matching the broadcast monitor. Sony says, rarely have they followed a consumer use product with professional capability so soon after introduction.
The Mini-LED uses LED lights that are 1/100th the size that a standard LED TV uses. This implies 100 times more LEDs and dramatically more zones that can be controlled. The more zones, the better the control, the greater the brightness while at the same time the increase in dyanmic range and ability to produce true black. Sony's Semiconductor Divsion developed tiny control chips, the size of a grain of rice that allow this unprecedented control.

Key to this control is the world's smallest LED control chip, the size of a grain of rice. This amazing IC was developed by Sony's SemiConductor Divsion. It offers 22 bits of digital control.
While many upper line led TVs produce bright picture with very good black levels, the grays and imbetween levels are lacking, and the pictures very cartoon like. The Sony BRAVIA 9 shows the brightest objects without blurring out, all levels inbetween and dark blacks, even in a completely dark room at night. Color accuracy is near perfect.
