Floor standing tower 3 way for much better bass and midrange clarity. Prime Tower. $1199 pair.
You can call them Tower speakers, or Floor Standing. These produce more bass. They usually include two woofers instead of one, and because the cabinet is larger, this allows a lower frequency response. Because there are two woofers, they can move more air, and play louder, and handle more power.
Most affordable floor standers are a two-way design. That means a tweeter and two woofers.
The SVS Prime Tower is a true three-way design with a tweeter, dedicated midrange, and two woofers.
This allows the speaker drivers to me more specialized to reproduce a narrower range of frequencies and reproduce music so it sound more real.
While a floor standing speaker might seem large, it really takes up the same amont of space a bookshelf speaker does, sitting on a floor stand. The SVS Prime Tower is only 8 inches wide and 36 inches tall.
It incorporates a 1 inch aluminum dome tweeter for excellent detail and transient response. A separate 4 1/2 in polypropylene midrange reproduces most of the voice range. Two 6 1/2 in polyproylene woofers make the bass.
The midrange is mounted in its own sealed cabinet inside the speaker cabinet. Each woofer is in is own cabinet with optimized port tuning for smooth accurate bass response. The drivers are mounted flush with the front baffle and chamfered edges minimize diffraction improving stereo imaging.
