NEW B & W 606 S3  $1199 PAIR
Bowers and Wilkins can best be scribed as an audio perfectionist British loudspeaker company. Their new Signature Series 801 D4 sells for $35,000 pair. Yet, the B&W 606 S3 above is only $1199 a pair. That perfectionist speaker technology found in the highly rated Diamond Series trickles down to the very reasonable, affordable, and beautiful 600 Series.
The B&W 600 Series is based on their philosophy of "True Sound" music that sound live.
The new improved S3 series includes the floor standing 603 S3, the 606 S3 stand mount, the 607 S3 compact speeaker and HTM6 S3 center channel.
Key to the improvements in the S3 versions is a new tweeter. It has a 25 micron main dome  and a tw part construction with a 30 micron Titanium ring. It is housed in a elongated tubw loading system that reduces the back reflection and resonances. This creates a more open sound. The ultra low mass tweeter dome means fast, detailed transient response without harshness.  Actually design concepts from the ultra high end 800 series include a diaphragm mounting plate and open tweeter grille.
From the mid line 700 series, Continuum Cones are used in the midrange (floor model) and woofer. The same motor system is now used in the 600 models as the more expensive 700 series. Plus, better bypass capacitors are used in the crossover.
To improve stereo imaging, the woofer and tweeter are mounted closer together. There is new wood internal bracing and metal treaaded inserts that securely fix the speeaker driver to the baffle.
Plus, there is the new FS-6000 S3 matching speaker stands.
Available in black, oak with white baffle and white.
